Sūrya
जपाकुसुम-सङ्काशं काश्यपेयं महाद्युतिम् । तमोऽरिं सर्व-पापघ्नं प्रणतोऽस्मि दिवाकरम् ॥
I bow to the Sun, radiant like the hibiscus, dispeller of darkness and of all sin.
Candra
दधि-शङ्ख-तुषाराभं क्षीरोदार्णव-सम्भवम् । नमामि शशिनं सोमं शम्भोर्-मुकुट-भूषणम् ॥
I salute the Moon, white as curd and conch, born of the ocean of milk, ornament of Śiva's crown.
Maṅgala
धरणी-गर्भ-सम्भूतं विद्युत्-कान्ति-समप्रभम् । कुमारं शक्ति-हस्तं तं मङ्गलं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
I bow to Mars, born of the earth, lightning-bright, the youth bearing the spear.
Budha
प्रियङ्गु-कलिका-श्यामं रूपेणाप्रतिमं बुधम् । सौम्यं सौम्य-गुणोपेतं तं बुधं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
I bow to Mercury, dark as the priyaṅgu bud, matchless in form, gentle and of gentle qualities.
Bṛhaspati
Offered for worship and study, not as prediction. Non-commercial.

I bow to Venus, fair as snow and lotus-fibre, supreme teacher, expounder of all śāstras.
Śani
नीलाञ्जन-समाभासं रवि-पुत्रं यमाग्रजम् । छाया-मार्ताण्ड-सम्भूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम् ॥
I salute Saturn, dark as collyrium, son of the Sun, elder brother of Yama, born of Chāyā and Sūrya.
Rāhu
अर्ध-कायं महा-वीर्यं चन्द्रादित्य-विमर्दनम् । सिंहिका-गर्भ-सम्भूतं तं राहुं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
I bow to Rāhu, of half-body and great might, eclipser of Moon and Sun, born of Siṁhikā.
Ketu
पलाश-पुष्प-सङ्काशं तारका-ग्रह-मस्तकम् । रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
I bow to Ketu, like the palāśa flower, head of the star-planets, fierce and formidable.
